You know her best as the larger-than-life Victoria’s Secret supermodel and savvy fashion critic who aufs less-than-impressive fashion designers from the hit Bravo program, Project Runway. Now, model, television star and businesswoman Heidi Klum is pregnant with her fourth child. That is right, her fourth child but does not even think to panic about rounded tummy and inevitable weight gain. Heidi is strongly sure – she will be able to regain slenderness after childbirth because she exercises healthy weight loss. Once she already had to astound the audience by participating in Victoria’s Secret show only after 3 weeks after birth. Read on to she how she does it.

New York Diet
Phase 1
You will have to bid farewell to most of carbohydrates – this means all this time you will have to do without fruits, dairy products, bread, pasta, potatoes and rice, alcohol, sweet and fatty, and forget there are alcohol drinks in the world. Your diet will include fish, vegetables, lean meat, green salad, and protein drinks. You should eat 5 times a day, every three hours. This phase lasts for 2 weeks and contributes to rapid weight loss.
Phase 2
Restrictions are slightly less stringent – menu introduces fruits, dairy products (although it is only serum, rather than milk), whole-grain products and little fats. This phase is designed to stabilize new weight, but as a rule, weight loss continues. Duration of phase – 2 weeks.
Phase 3
The final stage, ideally, lasts a lifetime and serve to maintain weight. Amount of carbohydrates and fats is increasing. But average daily calorie content still should be about 1,000 kcal. A mandatory important part of every phase – physical work. You need to exercise 60-90 minutes each day, combining aerobic and power exercise.
Complex of exercises for New York diet
- 2 minutes: bends forward «Good morning»
Bends help warming back muscles and legs.
Legs slightly wider shoulders, hands behind head. Bend forward, look there, legs and back remain straight. Once the body is parallel to the floor, take a deep breath and go back to original position. Warm muscles this way for about 30 seconds before you turn to the second phase of exercises. In the second phase, as soon as the body is parallel to the floor, bend your knees and straight, then return to original position.
- 1 minute: jumping
30 seconds: «platypus gait»
Legs wider shoulders, hands behind head, pull buttocks back and move forward, starting movement with the heel. If you are doing everything correctly, it will really be a platypus gait, and you will feel burning sensation in muscles.
- 1 minute: «Fight with a shadow»
Excellent exercise for muscles of back, arms, abdomen.
- 1 minute: «plie»
Legs at shoulder width, knees bent, feet are deployed at an angle of 45 degrees outside. Buttocks are pulled back to the maximum, support on heels. Rock out heels from the floor, then put them back, straining the front surface of thigh) and repeat the exercise again
- 2 minutes: long steps
Put feet on shoulders width apart, body weight will be on heels, breath and step back with left foot. Lower body until two legs form a corner. Exhale, go back to original position. Then change legs.
1 minute: jumping – sit down, and then jump up, then return to original position.
- 1 minute: reverse mode
Lie on your back, bend legs at the knees and squeeze fitball between them. Thus lower muscle of abdomen will be isolated. Make a bar, so that your knees would be as close to the chin as possible. Now «press» the ball with muscles. Your task is to feel abdomen muscles, rather than hips. Concentrate on them.
- 2 minutes: exercise on a step platform
Make a step, bend leg in the knee, pull it to your chest, go back to original position, then change legs. Then make a step, do long step back with a straight leg.
Return to original position and change legs. Adjust load by changing height of step platform.
1 minute: push-ups – take prone position and make classic push-ups from the floor. If the exercise is difficult for you, legs can be bent at the knees.
Then rest for 2-3 minutes – this time you can drink water. Then you have to repeat the entire series from 2 to 4 times, fixing loads on feet and taking dumbbells in hands (start with minimum weight).
In an interview with Woman Day, she talked about what she likes to have around the house and cook.
I can make quickly that is healthy but delicious. I like to try out different recipes on my family; they always give me very honest feedback. Plus, I always have healthy snacks like hard boiled eggs, carrots, wheat and gluten-free crackers and bananas in my bag. In terms of meals at home, there is always a fully stocked fridge since we cook every day. I cook everything from meatballs and homemade chicken soup with vegetables to kale salad and schnitzel. You name it, we make it–and it’s all fresh and organic!
As far as how her diet has changed since becoming a mother, she replied: “It’s all about moderation and balance. I love healthy food–it’s part of my lifestyle and now it’s party of my children’s lifestyle, too. Just because they are kids doesn’t mean they need a different diet. They eat everything [we do], which makes me very proud of them.”
What do you suppose is the last thing she does before going to bed at night? “I put on my In An Instant serum and eye cream. Then, I kiss my husband! “
