Ellen Pompeo is one of the stars that make Grey’s Anatomy the hit drama show that it is and it seemed like it was only yesterday that people had fallen in love with the actress in Season 1 of Grey’s. And now, six seasons into the show and Ellen Pompeo who plays Dr. Meredith Grey is facing a new set of challenges outside of the OR. Ellen Pompeo’s challenges include juggling a successful acting career in Hollywood, a marriage and now a baby girl that’s about eight months old! Ellen Pompeo appeared on the cover of Self Magazine and during her interview, she opened up about her pregnancy weight gain, her “energy diet plan” and the fitness exercise program that she does as part of her healthy lifestyle.
Ellen Pompeo’s Weight Loss Diet Plan
For the majority of Hollywood celebrity moms, weight loss post baby is a high priority that’s why they always immediately seek out weight loss help from top celebrity fitness trainers but Ellen Pompeo was not one of them. “I went up a pants size during my pregnancy,” Ellen Pompeo told Self, not guilty at all about her pregnancy weight gain. “I was in a size 25 jeans and I went up to a 26. I gained 26 pounds. And now, after the baby, I weigh 10 pounds more than I ever have. I love it, because everyone always told me I was too skinny before, and I thought, Oh, God, what if there are 14-year-olds who think I’m not eating because I’m very concerned about weight loss, and then they don’t eat? Do I have a responsibility? But really, I don’t care if people think I’m too skinny. This is my body. If they don’t like it, screw it. [My weight] doesn’t matter to me. I have a healthy baby.”
But this didn’t mean the actress couldn’t dish out any weight loss tips for new moms like her. One of her weight loss tips which she generously offered to new moms about how to look and stay slim: Brown bag it. “Take a few hours and prepare lunch for the week,” she said. “On Sundays, I pre-make everything for salads. I boil a dozen eggs and parboil beets. I chop lettuce, cilantro, scallions and parsley which are great weight loss foods and put it all in ziplock bags. During the week, I just grab handfuls, add dressing, dump in a can of beans, some goat cheese, and I’m ready to go.”
To keep her body revved up, Ellen Pompeo relies on six key weight loss foods as part of her “Energy Diet Plan.” She reaches for weight loss foods like bananas which are super-filling and a great source of fiber and mangoes which is a great source of your daily vitamin C (75 percent of your daily vitamin C needs in one cup) when she’s craving a fruit fix, as well as protein-rich weight loss foods like garbanzo beans and eggs. She also likes to eat weight loss foods like sardines and almonds which provide heart-helping nutrients and vitamins to keep her running strong.
The Grey’s Anatomy star definitely likes a healthy weight loss program which is quite obvious with the way she’s been eating healthy. And it’s because of this passion for a healthy weight loss that she’s even joined the campaign “No to Junk Foods” in consideration of her young daughter.
Ellen Pompeo’s Fitness Exercise Program
Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo not only likes to eat healthy. The second part of her healthy weight loss program is a good fitness exercise program. Yes! Her weight loss can also be credited on a few quick but very intense fitness training exercise moves that focus on her abs.
Her fitness exercise program can be credited with her fitness trainer, Gregg Miele, whose other famous-mom clients include Gisele Bündchen and Nicole Richie. Ellen Pompeo’s fitness trainer shared with the magazine three of Ellen Pompeo’s fitness training exercises concentrating on ab moves. The first is a bird dog move, another is around-the-world abs that are worked by stability ball exercises, and the final one is plank ups, a fusion of the plank and sit-up exercises.
