Her Workout

She told shape that since adopting Wyatt, her routine has changed quite a bit. While going through treatment she would get up early meditate, and either go for a long bike ride, horseback riding, or for a hour long run. These days she is very busy being mom, but still will take him in the stroller into her home gym and work out during his afternoon nap.At her home she will do 30 mins to an hour of cardio on an elliptical or stairmaster and then light weight training or Pilates.

I know now that daily exercise isn’t going to protect me 100% from illness, but I still believe it’s important for a woman to keep her body healthy.”

“I Used to do yoga, but now I love Pilates because of how it lengthens my muscles, which helps keeps my body more agile as I get older.”

Health Foods

Sheryl says her diet is something that helps stay well. Before being diagnosed with cancer she used to eat breakfast burritos with cheese and sausage. She hired a nutritionist and now eats for breakfast high fiber cereal with blueberries, and cut out most meat and refined carbohydrate foods. Her diet is mostly fish, brightly colored organic fruits and vegetables. She does “cheat” Here and there having dark chocolate, red wine, salty bag of potato chips.

“This past year I feel like I have been through a workshop on how to live a healthier, more fulfilling life. It may have been forced on me but it was actually a blessing”
