Three times a day a select few of these men were given 50 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of green tea extract, and 90 mg of epigallocatechin ( a majorflavonoid in green tea). The other men were taking a placebo three times a day. They found that in comparison to the placebo, the men taking the green tea extract had a significant increase (+4%) in their daily energy expenditure.
